The Garmin nuvi 265WT GPS includes Garmin’s latest feature: Free traffic alerts for life. The only catch is that you’ll see ads popping up on your Garmin. But experts and users state the ads aren’t that noticeable, and it’s better than paying $60 a year for subscription traffic alerts.
Experts and users do note one difficulty with the free traffic: It is only available in 50 metropolitan areas in the U.S. and Canada. If you can’t make use of the free traffic information — or Bluetooth hands-free calling — critics recommend the less expensive Garmin nuvi 265WT GPS (*est. $235). But if you do desire the free traffic, testers say the widescreen nüvi 265WT is easier to see than its non-widescreen counterpart, the Garmin nüvi 265T (*est. $255).
